Abstract
Conclusions and Recommendations from Four Decades of Pension Reforms in Latin America: Promises and Reality, is a short version of the full text written by Carmelo Mesa-Lago, in which he evaluates the main elements of the behavior of the pension systems of nine countries in the region, after more than 38 years since the first pension reform in Chile came into effect. The author provides relevant information for the analysis of privately administered individual capitalization pension systems. He makes a series of recommendations that are worth knowing and studying to have greater elements for the debate on a pension system that is closer to its raison for being and as part of social security.
