Zusammenfassung
Tunisia turned to the IMF at two moments in its recent history: the first covered a structural adjustment program (SAP) from 1986 to 1992; the second, two additional IMF lending programs from 2013 to 2020. In the same periods, programs supported by the World Bank encouraged intense legislative, regulatory, and economic reforms. Both periods coincided with an intensification of the World Bank development policy interventions. The profound economic impact on the general welfare of the public has, not surprisingly, led to resistance to these neoliberal policies.
