Zusammenfassung
The UN Security Council is increasingly under pressure to address climate change as a threat to international peace and security. Yet disagreements about the Councils mandate as well as its current mode of operation render the body ill-suited for tackling climate change-related challenges. This publication discusses whether action on climate change could trigger transformation of the Council into an organ better suited for the worlds 21st century challenges in general. Reform proposals include forward-looking initiatives supported by affected states, as well as coordinated symbolic gestures from the Permanent Five Security Council Members.
