INFORMATION ABOUT CERTIFICATES OF IDENTIFICATION FORALIENS OF EVERY NATIONALITIES

I Persons required to apply:-

a

All aliens who are of the age of 14 years or upwards and who areGerman , Italian , or Japanese citizens or subjects.

b. All aliens of the age of 14 years or upwards who at present arestateless but who at the time at which they became stateless, wereGerman , Italian , or Japanese citizens or subjects.

II Persons not required to apply:-

a. German , Itálian or Japanese citizens or subjects who, beforeDecember 7, 1941 in the case of former Japanese subjects andbefore December 8, 1941 in the case of former German or Italian citizens, became citizens of any nation other than Germany , Italy or Japan , provided that such persons have not, by special licenseor otherwise, retained their status as German , Italian , orJapanese citizens or subjects.

b. Austrians or Austrian- Hungarians , who registered as such under theAlien Registration Act of 1940, provided that such persons have notat any time voluntarily become German , Italian , or Japanese citizensor subjects,

III Time to apply:

February 9th to February 28th, 1942, both inclusive.

" In filing the Application for Certificate of Identification, you aremerely giving current information concerning yourself and are complying withYou arenecessary war- time requirements of the United States Government.also giving evidence of your peaceful disposition and of your desire tocooperate and to conform to the laws of the United States .

These are the steps required of you:

You must have( 1) Look up your Alien Registration Receipt Card at once.it, to avoid delay, when you apply for a Certificate of Identification. Ifyou do not have it, write immediately to Alien Registration Division, Washing­ ton, D. C. , stating( a) whether you lost it or never had one, and( b) yournationality and present address and where you registered- whether in the United States or outside the United States at a Consular Office, or as a seaman.

( 2) Obtain three unmounted photographs of yourself, with light background,2 by 2 inches in size, on thin paper. These photographs must be taken not morethan 30 days prior to presenting your application, and must clearly show afront view of the face without hat. Take the photographs with you when yougo to the post office to make application for your Certificate of Identifi-cation.
