On Form I- 555 you should enter your District File No. You haveprobably had a communication from Ellis Island giving a filenumber which you should enter. You may also have had a communica-tion from the Department in Washington. If so, it will have afile number and should also be entered. The words to be enteredunder Alien Registration No. are:" Not yet received. Fingerprintedin Marseille end of September, 1940." I note that you have a Saufde Conduit issued on February 15, 1941. Please inform me whetherthis Sauf de Conduit states specifically whether it was valid foronly one trip. No. 6 on this same Form should read:" Attached."

On Form I- 55 under# 6- if you know the date you were expatriated,please so enter. Of course, under# 10 you will change the Meriden information to" January, 1942," and add" Scattergood." Under# 18 you entered that you are widowed, but under# 19 you saythat you were divorced. If you only married once, you cannot beboth widowed and divorced, so that you will have to answer one orthe other. Under# 20 you might enter how long you have been outof contact with your children.
