Dear Friend:

February 5, 1942.

You have heard more through the papers about Certificatesof Identification since our last letter to you and areprobably prepared to register very soon, if you comewithin the group that must register. In our last letterwe described to you those who need not register and thosewho do have to register. If you have any doubt as towhether you should or should not register, we shall bevery glad to talk over with you the rulings. If you haveany doubt, it is always better to register.

In our last letter to you we wrote asking you whether youhad in your possession your Alien Registration ReceiptCard and suggested that you write to Washington if youdid not have your card in your possession.

We are finding that many people have received no answersto their letters to Washington . We shall be very glad tomake another attempt for you to get your card before youregister. If you do not have a card, will you write usBY RETURN MAIL the following information:

As soon as we receive your answer, we will send your nameto Washington along with the others, and we have beenpromised an answer immediately.

We have received copies of the applications for Certificatesof Identification in the office of the American Committeefor Christian Refugees. Washington has given permissionto have these blanks filled out in offices like ours sothat you may take your blank, filled out, to the Post Office.
