Since Covid-19, the largest social protection donor, the World Bank, has tripled its aid to 4 billion US dollars per year, nearly the same amount that the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM) spends on health. In their own countries, donors spend the same on social pro­tection as they do on education and health combined. Yet in their aid budgets, social protec­tion receives seven times less than education and health.
