Founded in 1925 as the first German political foundation, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung(FES) is a private, non-profit organisation committed to the values of social democracy. The Foundation bears the name of the first democratically elected president of the German Reich, Friedrich Ebert, and seeks to preserve his political legacy: the promotion of freedom, solidarity and social justice.
