As Ireland is still in the early stages of developing green hydrogen, its excellent off­shore wind resources offer a realistic opportunity for green hydrogen export to Germany in the medium to long term. This puts the Irish-German bilateral relationship on a promising new footing. The German and Irish govern­ments could accelerate Ireland’s green hydrogen sector through innovative offtake agreements, providing financial stability and market certainty for both countries and thereby strengthening resilience in the European Union.
