They diversify supply chains and reduce dependency on China. Partnerships should contrib­ute to economic, social and environmental development in resource-rich third countries. That means supporting their industrialisation and diversi­fying their labour markets, as well as respecting of human rights and environmental standards. A coherent overall strategy is needed, with efficient and dependable funding. Inter­national development policy needs to be closely coordi­nated with industrial and economic policy.
