A N A LY S I S PEACEPTIONS PEACE IN A COMPLEX CONTEXT The Case of Tunisia Sabine Kurtenbach& Borhene Yousfi Tunisia’s political transition opened some space but also paved the way for polarisation and the growing importance of identity. Tunisia has comparatively low levels of physical violence. Perceptios of peace show slightly differing views across gender and generational lines with women and youth favouring security and tranquillity while men prioritise justice. Achieving peace in Tunisia requires concerted efforts and a multidimensional approach. Tackling fundamental socio-economic problems and promoting social cohesion and livelihoods for youth is a key necessity.
