A N A LY S I S PEACEPTIONS PEACE IN A COMPLEX CONTEXT The Case of Tunisia Sabine Kurtenbach& Borhene Yousfi Tunisias political transition opened some space but also paved the way for polarisa­tion and the growing impor­tance of identity. Tunisia has comparatively low levels of physical violence. Perceptios of peace show slightly differing views across gender and generational lines with women and youth ­favouring security and tran­quillity while men prioritise justice. Achieving peace in Tunisia requires concerted efforts and a multidimensional approach. Tackling fundamental ­socio-­economic problems and promoting social cohesion and livelihoods for youth is a key necessity.
