How Egypt Views Its Relationship With China Ahmed Kandil November 2024 Egypt’s relationship with China has expanded significantly in recent years economically, politically and culturally, along the synergy between Egypt’s Vision 2030 and China’s Belt and Road Initiative(BRI), and both countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership from 2014. Like many other countries in the Middle East and North Africa region, Egypt is cautiously walking the tightrope between China and the US to maintain balanced relations between the two powers to achieve its national interests. China’s increasing role in this region should be considered as an“opportunity” rather than a “threat”, as its rising geopolitical role may allow for more cooperation, mediation and conflict resolution.
