About the author Dr. Marco Overhaus is a Research Associate at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs(SWP) in Berlin. In the research group The Americas his research fo­cus is on U.S. defense and military policy, transatlantic de­fense policy, NATO, U.S. security policy in the Middle East and U.S. security policy in the Indo-Pacific. Earlier he was serving at the German Foreign Office at the Policy Planning Staff and North America-Division(USA, Canada, G7/G8).
