Conclusion Journalism in the country began 148 years ago, the NUJ itself was founded on March 5, 1955; it is inconceivable that a profession and union so old cannot guarantee its members basic protection. Today, fifty years after the country's political independence, there is need for a second liberation, this time of the journalist.
