ANALYSIS José Antonio Ocampo/ Juan David Torres— CAMBIO ESTRUCTURAL Y DINÁMICA MACROECONÓMICA: LOS RETOS COLOMBIANOS PEACE AND SECURITY ENVIRONMENTAL AND CLIMATE JUSTICE, AND THE DYNAMICS OF VIOLENCE IN LATIN AMERICA Perspectives from a regional working group on climate change, the environment, peace and security in Latin America Caroline Delgado/ Farah Hegazi/ Anniek Barnhoorn February 2024 à The Friedrich Ebert Stiftung( FES ) Colombia office and the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute ( SIPRI ) convened experts and activists from 10 Latin American countries to form a working group on climate and environmental security. à The regional working group discussed the challenges of sustainable development and the rights of local communities and ethnic populations in the context of violence and insecurity affecting Latin America. à The group developed key messages in four thematic areas: governance; extractivism and land use change; environmental and climate justice; and the protection of nature and territories. It also identified key audiences for political advocacy on these issues. 1
