STUDY THE IMFS SDR BONANZA: WHAT GOOD DID THE FREE LIQUIDITY DO JORDAN? Ahmad M. Awad Anna Sting March 2023 In 2021, the International Monetary Fund distributed free liquidity, known as Spe­cial Drawing Rights(SDRs), to all 191 member countries. The aim was to help countries face the pandemics socioeco­nomic repercussions. Out of a total of 456 billion SDRs(650 billion dollars), each country, received an amount relative to its quo­ta in the Fund. Like for all developing countries, Jordans allocation was too little com­pared its financial needs. Jordan received a total of 468 million dollars worth of this SDR allocation, equivalent to 7% of its gross financial needs. This study tracks how Jordan spend this money and how transparent and inclusive the decision-making process on the spending was set up in the country.
