A N A LY S I S FROM HISTORIES TO FUTURES A Mapping of Feminist Movements in the MENA Region The Asfari Institute for Civil Society and Citizenship July 2023 Feminist movements in the MENA region face critical chal­lenges and limited resources, leaving the rights of women and marginalized minorities on the sidelines. The current feminist move­ments in the region are influ ­enced by significant historical, demographic, and political factors. The 2011 uprisings led to the emergence of more intersec­tional and critical feminist movements, while the COV­ID-19 pandemic and rising conflicts have empowered on ­line feminist activism.
