A N A LY S I S ECONOMY AND FINANCE FEMINIST ECOLOGICAL ECONOMICS For a Just and Sustainable Future in MENA and Beyond Farah Daibes September 2023 Capitalist economic theories and practices have shaped our globalized socio-economic system and normalized the exploitation of women’s labor, the extraction and destruction of nature, and neocolonial governance within our global financial system. The majority of people in the MENA region, as in much of the rest of the Global South, bear the brunt of the social, economic, and ecological crises caused by these systems of oppression and exploitation. Implementing feminist ecological economic models and employing economic indicators that account for both ecological and social wellbeing is imperative in addressing the crises at hand and fostering a more just and sustainable world.
