A N A LY S I S LABOUR AND SOCIAL JUSTICE STRONG LABOR MARKET INSTITUTIONS – for decent work and greater inclusion Muttaqa Yusha’u Abdulra’uf May 2020 This paper examines whether lending by the IMF and World Bank since 2015 is in alignment with the UN 2030 Agenda’s Sustainable Development Goals 8 and 10. The author finds that labor market policy recommendations have served to weaken, not strengthen progress toward increasing decent work and lessening inequality. The way forward will be through increased access to labor markets for all categories of workers and the establishment universal social protection floors.
