Abstract
- Focusing on strategic autonomy, Turkish foreign policy has become increasingly proactive recently, balancing relations with China along tensions, collaboration and competition. While pursuing cooperation in the economic and other realms, challenges abound for the bilateral relationship over issues such as Uyghur question, Türkiye's NATO-membership and its ties to the European Union, as well as China's search for regional alternatives. This paper explores the recent history of the multifaceted relationship between both countries, perceptions of China in Türkiye as well as challenges and chances for the future relations.
