Zusammenfassung
In 2022, the Observatory of Political and Economic Networks (OPEN) and the Syrian Legal Development Program (SLDP) investigated the top 100 private Syrian suppliers to the UN from 2019-2020, focusing on regime-held areas. Supported by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, the study assessed human rights risks, uncovering increased procurement from high-risk and sanctioned suppliers tied to the Assad regime. Procurements from entities like the Syrian Arab Red Crescent and others. Concerns were raised about UN transparency, with Syria leading in hidden supplier procurements, linked to higher violations. A case study revealed an NGO led by a terrorist organization member received significant funding despite serious accusations.
