  • This report provides an overview of the shared responses across both sides of the Mediterranean to socio-economic, climate, and security challenges. The EU plays a central role, supporting countries in the region while also encouraging them to act as gatekeepers, whether as frontline member states like Cyprus and Greece or as neighboring countries like Egypt and Lebanon. Rising dissatisfaction with hosting and receiving forced migrants has led to policies focused on deterrence and return, with limited investment in reception and integration capacities.
