Abstract
- Thailand’s aging society and persistent inequality are placing growing pressure on the country’s economy and workforce — especially among the poorest households. As the working-age population shrinks and family sizes decline, the burdens of caring for the young and elderly fall hardest on those with the least resources. This publication reveals how inequitable public services and outdated welfare assumptions risk deepening these challenges. It makes the case for increased investment in social protection systems, showing how targeted support can ease household burdens, enhance workforce productivity, and drive Thailand toward a more inclusive and resilient economy.
