Thailand’s automotive industry is entering a new era. As electric vehicles (EVs) gain momentum, this paper explores how the shift is transforming domestic auto-parts suppliers and the workforce. Combining historical analysis, case studies, and a survey of 400 automotive workers, it examines the opportunities and challenges posed by technological disruption, foreign investment, and evolving labor demands. The study highlights strategies for adaptation—such as upskilling, automation, and diversification—and offers policy recommendations to ensure a just, sustainable, and inclusive EV transition in Thailand’s industrial landscape.
