  • This policy paper argues that current deregulation trends and governance gaps highlight the urgent need for a UN Treaty on Business and Human Rights. It outlines how a legally binding multilateral instrument can strengthen corporate accountability, protect vulnerable communities and safeguard states’ ability to regulate in the public interest.
