However, the narrative of the accession to the European Union is interesting in that the path to the Union seems to lead to the tacit approval of reducing/limiting the rights of citizens in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Thus, there were concerns were expressed and certain steps taken against these changes by the EU, but the impression is that the European Union did not excessively advocate for retrograde laws not to be adopted. Whether it is due to the political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, geopolitics in Europe, various political agreements or something else, cannot be said with certainty. However, the fact remains that the laws were adopted, citizens’ rights are limited, the media operate in an unfavourable atmosphere, and BiH continues its path towards the Union.
Nakon dobijanja statusa kandidata za EU, sloboda izrazavanja i medijske slobode dozivjele su znacajan pad, mozda i najveci u protekloj deceniji. Jasno je da BiH ne samo da nije ispunila Prioritet 12, nego je i nazadovala u njegovom ispunjavanju. Novinari, mediji i aktivisti to najbolje mogu da vide, osjete i zive, dok Bosna i Hercegovina i dalje koraca ka Evropskoj uniji bez ispunjavanja prioriteta.
