SMEs are an integral part of Bangladeshi economy. It creates approximately 7.86 million direct jobs. Despite the thriving economic progress, SMEs are reluctantly adopting ICT. The study explores the push and pull factors, challenges and the inability to adopt ICT among business owners, and presents three case studies that clearly show the benefits of ICT adoption in SMEs. A review of policies related to SMEs and digital commerce provides a critical reflection of policy gaps and compliances. It also critically analyses the factors and policy trends to boost ICT adoption in global SMEs and has formulated recommendations.
