Zusammenfassung
This study presents the situation of young people in Yemen in 2021. Kamal Naif Tamim focuses on the loss of livelihood after the destruction of the public and private infrastructure because of the war. Young Yemenis suffer from exacerbated poverty, food insecurity and the tragical collapse of their money savings and spending patterns. The lack of work opportunities and access to financial institutions highlights the need for Yemeni youth to be empowered to start their own businesses. Meanwhile, the study reveals anguish among Yemeni youth who faced the negative impacts of Covid-19 in addition to their daily challenges. Most of them were forced to adopt new ways of living to keep life going. The study is based on the results of the regional FES MENA Youth Study for which 1,000 young men and women were interviewed in twelve countries.
