Zusammenfassung
Greece’s reliance on natural gas as a ‘transition fuel’ left the country highly exposed to Russian energy imports on the eve of the Ukraine war. Yet, the country was able to adapt quickly to the new situation. LNG will replace Russian pipeline gas, whereas other sources for pipeline gas are developed. The shown ability to adapt to a scenario with less natural gas suggests that further investment in gas infrastructure is not necessarily the best path for medium energy security for the country.
