Zusammenfassung
Bulgaria has been especially exposed to the supply crisis as its energy mix relies heavily on fossil fuels, particularly coal for electricity generation, and crude oil products for transportation. Bulgaria is highly dependent on imports. In the year after the invasion, Gazprom remains a crucial gas supplier and Bulgaria continues to import Russian pipeline gas from TurkStream and indirectly from Greek gas companies within long-term supply agreements. Bulgaria has a large potential to decarbonize electricity generation through investments in renewables. Unlocking this potential would require a robust legislative framework and support mechanisms to boost green investments.
