Abstract
The war in Ukraine caught the Czech energy sector in a situation of ongoing changes. The Czech Republic has been heavily dependent on imports of energy commodities from Russia, especially in the case of oil, petroleum products, and natural gas. This posed a high risk of supply shortages or shutdowns with potentially fatal consequences for the Czech economy. In general, after February 2022, there has been both an acceleration of some trends triggered by factors such as decarbonisation targets (investment in energy saving measures, development of small PV systems, etc.) and a change in certain priorities and targets.
