Abstract
This study explores potential and actual implications of ad-hoc coalitions for collective security initiatives in the AU African Peace and Security Architecture (APSA). It lays a foundation for future works in in identifying main problems that need to be addressed within the existing security arrangement on the continent considering the proliferation of ad-hoc security arrangements. It thoroughly analyzes the opportunities for the AU-APSA process, the challenges they pose to the APSA and their future prospects within the APSA Framework.
