Abstract
Nearly a decade has passed since the beginning of the Arab uprisings, however the aftermath and repercussions of the movement continue to reshape the region. The most far-reaching effect of the Arab Spring movement in Iraq is the transformation of the people themselves to a vital and engaged element of society, whom politicians cannot ignore or put aside. The protests in Iraq are not only a fleeting phenomenon: they represent a historical turning point for a generation fed up with incompetent governance, politicized sectarianism, corruption, and social inequality.
