Abstract
Economic conditions for financing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are constrained by geopolitical tensions around trade, growing debt vulnerabilities, and unmet expectations about public-private collaboration on development finance. To put trade back on track, sustainable development must be at the heart of the multilateral trade regime. To address rising debt vulnerabilities while still making the investments needed to achieve the SDGs, we should promote the UNCTAD Principles for Responsible Sovereign Lending and Borrowing; to ensure no one is left behind, we need increased knowledge-sharing and evidence to improve blended finance.
