In the face ofthe multiple development crises at the global level expressed in the extreme concentration of wealth in the hands of the few, severe environmental crises (e.g. the increase in the average temperature ofthe Earths atmosphere and the loss ofbiodiversity), and the increasing number of social and socio-environmental conflcts progressive political debates have lacked feasible counterproposals to dominant development paradigms. While the more radical left hasnt been able to come up with politically viable proposals, progressive political actors currently in power have generally been unable to move beyond the traditional paradigms to develop proposals and visions that comprehensively answer pressing social, democratic, and environmental challenges.
