Last summer, Basra has been again rocked by protests with demonstrators setting ablaze government buildings. Protesters rioted over the lack of water, electricity, and other basic services. The lack of services and the abandoned massive protests has urged the author to conduct this research in order to understand the reasons behind the mass protests, and look for possible solutions through an analytical approach using the direct interview tool, the field observation, and the review of some of the records and documents related to Basra.
