Israel, like Germany/Europe, is confronted with the challenges of globalization as well as the effects of a global financial and economic crisis. Main focus of the meeting was to present and discuss the new threats coming from the rise of right-wing populists and their causes. On both sides, social democratic forces now face the task of adjusting their political programs and orientation, as well as to develop practical policies to deal with these new challenges. The IEPN meeting took place in October in Barcelona, Spain.
