Zusammenfassung
Global Framework Agreements (GFAs) are an important tool for setting minimum labor standards and organizing unions in transnational corporations. Their implementation in the US has been particularly challenging. Having successfully negotiated an agreement, both labor and management were generally absent in the process leading up to its implementation. Given the current negotiations over a Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), it is essential for unions on both sides of the Atlantic to push for the inclusion of more comprehensive labor standards. The study shows that GFAs could be an important first step in that direction.
