The quest for human rights especially in Africa has been a major concern in the light of the social and economic development shortfall. The poverty of the majority of the people is making them more vulnerable to the effects of climate change. Given the magnitude of climate change as a global environmental crisis affecting everybody and every country in way or the other it stands to reason that rights of women, men, girls and boys everywhere are bound to suffer. Responding to climate change at various levels also has its own implications for rights of people in various ways. This paper is seeking to highlight the human rights implications of climate change with particular reference to the right to food and contend that promoting rights in the fight against climate change will strengthen human rights in general and contribute to more inclusiveness and effectiveness in the fight against climate change.
