The report is based on observations made by members of the Nairobi Slums Residents� Assembly before, during and after the 2013 general elections. It shows that tensions prior to the elections were high and slum dwellers moved to other areas to reduce risk. Although election-related violence did not occur on a large scale, Olang Sana�s �Kenya's March 2013 general elections� reveals that Kenya is still ethnically polarized. The publication follows an analysis of the political violence after the disputed Kenyan presidential elections in December 2007, �Taking Stock of Socio-Economic Challenges in Nairobi Slums�, which was published in 2012.
