Zusammenfassung
The present study takes a look at current attitudes and identity-patterns measured among European citizens, as well as political and economic developments interacting with these cultural and social factors. It also examines the groundwork they create for the future of European integration. Instead of an utopist vision, the paper hopes to offer a realistic picture of these developments and evaluate the European Union’s effort aimed at consolidating European identity in that light. The study also takes a closer look at Hungarian research data and makes some suggestions for policies that may deepen European identity.
