In the light of the upcoming Rio+20 Summit in June 2012, "Reform of Global Sustainable Development Institutions", written by Sascha Müller-Kraenner, explores the prospects of institutional reform in the face of an outdated framework of global environmental governance. By pointing to pressing concerns such as the ineffective fragmentation of UN working bodies, the unreliable system of funding and the changed lines of conflict and cooperation between stakeholders, concrete proposals are outlined to overcome these deficiencies and to make the next step in the evolution of sustainable development institutions.
