Abstract
In the light of a fast growing social media sphere in China, "Youth Participation in the Age of Microblogging. A Survey of Shanghai Youth.", written by Huang Hongji and Zhou Ying, analyses the development and current status quo of microblogging in China. By reflecting the genesis of microblogging and its user's way of usage, the authors pointing out that there is a new force emerging, generating and disseminating information by itself - instead of just following them. This raises the questions of how this new lifestyle does change society; and furthermore, whether Chinese microblogs foster a transformation towards a new public sphere?
