Vietnam has recently signed up to two important trade agreements: The "Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement" with another 11 Asian and Pacific countries including the USA as well as the "EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement". The proponents of these agreements consider them as �progressive� since, in their opinion, they include enforceable labour and environmental standards. But the question is: Will this linkage between trade and labour standards finally lead to trade union pluralism in the one-party political system of Vietnam?
