Zusammenfassung
In October 2016, the city of Quito will host Habitat III, the most important worldwide Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development
that takes place every 20 years. Habitat III calls for tens of thousands of people, including Member States of the United Nations, public and
private institutions around the world, and citizens who seek to be part of the construction of the New Urban Agenda (NUA) containing the global
agreements and commitments to shape future cities.
The citys nomination as host was made in the context of national progress made in land use and urban development. Ecuador has been one of the fist
countries to speak of an urban revolution and a pioneer in incorporating the right to the city in its Constitution.
