Abstract
The Political Analyst Róbert László comments and summarises in this article the changes in the environment and barriers of referenda in Hungary since 2010 and analysis its political impacts and consequences for democracy and participation. In particular with regard to the anti-quota referendum on the 2nd October 2016 in Hungary he pays attention to a controversial discussion about direct democracy and the risk of political exploitation through unbalanced agenda-setting.
