  • In July 2015, Social Movements had started. Demonstrators took to the streets of Baghdad and most of Southern Cities. The main reasons behind the demonstrations were against rampant corruption and the abysmal electricity services that plague Iraq.

    In response, Haider Al-Abadi introduced a reform Package, which was indorsed by the Parliament. The parliament also introduced a second reform package. Both packages include promising steps in fighting corruption, public services, and economic and administrative reforms.

    The policy paper intends to scrutinize the political reform process since the start of the movements, taking into considerations the response of the Iraqi political elite and different Political forces towards the reform process.
