The Sahel epitomizes a confluence of local, national and international security challenges (organized crime, drug smuggling, and terrorism) and their individual and collective dynamics that continue to shape the security trajectories of the region. This paper reflects on the various security regimes and collective security arrangements by the Sahelian countries, in particular a comparison of the recent experiments by the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) and the G-5 Sahel.
