Abstract
This article is a translated version of a Meta study on Promoting Socially and Economically Just Energy Transformations in Asia, from September 2017. The aim is to provide a comprehensive overview of the most important political and social factors, commonalities and challenges that drive but also hamper socially just energy transitions across eight countries in Asia, i.e. China, India, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, the Republic of Korea, Thailand and Vietnam, which produced nearly 45 % of global carbon dioxide emissions in 2015.
