Zusammenfassung
In this study, Professor Emeritus Robert Kappel takes a closer look at the relationship between the European Union (EU) and Africa. He is critical of the fact that these relations have been on a downward trajectory for some time and argues that, as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, the prevailing asymmetry is no longer acceptable as we move into the future. Kappel also discusses the impact of the global pandemic on African economies, addresses the current political cooperation between the two continents and evaluates the EU’s recent strategy proposal. To conclude, he makes recommendations for closer strategic cooperation between Europe and Africa.
